My theory is that Ryan Murphy is a secret sadist.

He created American Horror Story purely as a punch bag, to let out his rage that he couldn’t let out on glee, which explains why he emotionally tortured all the characters in American Horror Story in the most brutal ways and then killed 98% of them off.

But since American Horror Story is off air right now, his rage has grown and grown and that’s why he’s torturing all the Glee characters right now.
